Stormwater Quality Inspections Supervisor

As a Stormwater Quality Inspections Supervisor, duties would include:


  • Perform supervisory duties over Stormwater Quality Investigators that perform inspection and enforcement work to ensure compliance with City standards and ordinances and compliance with the City’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit
  • Serves as the subject matter expert in conducting full-performance level on-site investigations and inspections to ensure accurate compliance to city codes and federal, state, and/or local regulations relating to wastewater rules and regulations
  • Review, develop or modify work plans, methods and procedures, determine work priorities and develop work schedules to provide adequate staff coverage. Provide work instruction and assist employees with difficult and/or unusual assignments; encourage innovation. Assign and distribute work, review work for accuracy and completeness and return assignments with recommendations for proper completion.
  • Assists and provides oversight to customer service and quick response to citizen complaints and/or concerns related to illegal discharge in the city storm sewer system, or other stormwater related issues
  • Serves as the subject matter expert in inspection of construction sites to ensure compliance with Construction Activities Stormwater Discharge Permit (CASDP) and associated management plans
  • Main point of contact with inspections of permanent post-construction water quality facilities to ensure compliance with operations and maintenance requirements, and in the investigation of illicit discharges to the storm sewer system
  • Review engineer plans to determine if pollution control considerations and devices are adequate, including on-site review of construction installation of pollution control measures
  • Respond to city emergencies such as floods, spills, illicit discharges, or sanitary sewer overflows
  • Resolve problems and mediates conflicts encountered during daily operations and determine appropriate solutions; promote teamwork. Encourage regular communication, inform staff of relevant business issues and their impact on the organization
  • Conduct hiring interviews and select candidate(s) for job opening(s)
