About the Positions
Stormwater Quality Coordinator I
Hiring Range: $82,798.56 – $91,998.40 annually
This entry-level role focuses on supporting the City’s stormwater management programs, including compliance monitoring, public outreach, and enforcement of stormwater regulations. You’ll work alongside city staff to maintain and document compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program, review erosion control plans, and conduct inspections. This role offers an excellent opportunity to grow your expertise in stormwater management and regulatory compliance.

Stormwater Quality Coordinator II
Hiring Range: $91,091.52 – $101,212.80 annually
In this senior-level role, you’ll lead and advance Lakewood’s stormwater management programs. From managing compliance efforts and providing expert technical guidance to representing the City in regional meetings, you’ll have significant independence in shaping stormwater quality initiatives. This position is ideal for candidates with strong project management skills and a deep understanding of stormwater regulations and environmental assessments.

What You’ll Do
Collaborate with city departments, contractors, and external agencies to implement stormwater solutions.
Inspect construction sites and stormwater facilities to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Lead public education and outreach on water quality protection.
Document and maintain records for the City’s MS4 permit and compile annual reports.
Innovate stormwater quality strategies to protect Lakewood’s environment for future generations.

What We’re Looking For
A passion for environmental stewardship and community service.
For Level I: An associate’s degree (bachelor’s preferred) in civil or environmental engineering, construction management, or related fields, with up to 3 years of experience.
For Level II: A bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience, with expertise in stormwater management, regulatory compliance, and best practices.
Certifications such as CDOT Transportation Erosion Control Supervisor and APWA Certified Stormwater Manager (preferred for Level II).
Strong technical skills and proficiency in software like GIS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
A collaborative spirit and effective communication skills.
